Lorne Kincaid Kelly

Lorne was born in Dodsland Hospital on June 9, 1926.  He was the third child of Howard & Jennie May Kelly.  He grew up on the family farm north of Dodsland and started his schooling at Ivy Country School.

He decided early in life that he wanted to farm and so he worked with his father for a number of years and eventually took over the family farm.

Lorne attended Briercrest Bible School for three years, graduating in 1948.

In 1949, the Kelly family moved to Saskatoon where Lorne worked several winters in the shipping department of International Harvester.

Lorne and I were married on January 19, 1952 and we moved to the farm that spring.

We had five special sons who found equally special wives, resulting in thirteen Grandchildren and eventually twenty-three Great Grandchildren.

Some of Lorne’s interests included nice cars and aircrafts.  He also enjoyed hockey.  He played for a number of years and later spent many hours watching his boys’ games and practices.

After we became empty nesters, we enjoyed spending three months a year in Arizona.  It was especially meaningful since one of our sons and his family lived in Arizona at that time.

Summer trips weren’t that frequent, but Banff was one of our favourite destinations.

Lorne and I had sixty-four and a half wonderful years together.  It wasn’t all sunshine and roses of course.  There were strong differences of opinion at times, with hurt feelings and disappointments.  But our love for each other, our family, and our Lord helped us through the rough times; and I should add, a sense of humour sure helped.

I miss you my beloved husband, but I will be with you soon.

                                                Joyce
