Jacob Edwin Thiessen

July 2, 1931 ~ September 7, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old


Jacob Edwin Thiessen , 86 yrs of age , of Dodsland Saskatchewan passed away on Thursday September 7, 2017

He was born to Isaac and Elizabeth Thiessen at home in Gruental, Saskatchewan on July 2, 1931.

In 1951 he married Judith Peters of Neuanlage and they have shared the last  66 years together.

In 1961 they moved to Delisle to an old farm site with no power, running water or telephone . It was a lot of hard work  with good times blended in.

In 1966 they moved to Dodsland and later to Plenty and enjoyed many happy and productive years on the farm,  as well as farming in Colorado for a number of years during that time.

 Most recently they moved to the Caleb Village Retirement Home and to Heritage Manor in Kindersley. 

Jake  was a follower of The Lord Jesus Christ, from the young age of ten years. He was steadfast in his faith and he set a good example for his family over the course of his life.

He loved farming and appreciated that Judy  was such a great helpmate all through the years .

He was kind and generous of heart , especially to those in need , remembering the kindness of others in their own times of sorrow and difficulty.

Jake is lovingly remembered by his wife Judy and his children: Brian, Connie (Rob), Rod (Luella ) and his grandchildren: Kel (Amy), Duane (Kimberley), Dale (Coral )and John (Tara )Thiessen , Mike (Reagan) and Caleb (Kassi) MacDonald, and Justine , Jacob and Daniel Thiessen;  his great grandchildren : 

Lyla, Dylyn and  Kaycee Thiessen , Jack Thiessen ,  Katie , Lydia and Peter Thiessen, Pryce , Kaine and Levi Thiessen,  and Benjamin and Avery MacDonald and Walter MacDonald .

He is also survived by his two sisters , Mary Robson and Tina (Peter) Friesen.

He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Elizabeth, his daughter Kathleen, his granddaughter Kathleen, his daughter-in-law Linda Thiessen, his son-in-law Jerry Hall, his sisters Nettie and Betty,  brothers Peter, John, Bill, Neil and Henry and numerous step brothers and sisters of the  Ens family.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff of Heritage Manor. Their warmth, dedication and  tireless efforts to provide quality care with dignity and respect have been  a heartwarming blessing to the family .

Also, their sincere appreciation to The Kindersley Funeral Home and to David in particular, for taking care of the arrangements for today.

Last but not least , a big Thank You to Vic and the Dodsland Legion for setting up the hall and providing today's lunch.

They are most  thankful to God for the gift of their father's life and all the ways in which they were blessed by the time spent  with him . 

A graveside service will take place Monday, September 11, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dodsland cemetery.

Following the graveside service there will be a time of fellowship and refreshment at the Dodsland Community Hall.
