“I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in Me, though he (she) die, yet shall he (she) live.” John 11:25
Yvonne entered her Eternal Heavenly Home on Thursday, November 27th. We will miss her, but for Christians it is a sorrow mixed with the hope of a future reunion. We rejoice that she is now free from pain and is young again, full of vitality, in a place more beautiful and full of love than we can possibly imagine. A home where she will meet again her friends who had gone before her, and most special of all, her Savior, who she has loved since she was a young woman.
Mum was born in London, England on 19th of September 1935. Then at the beginning of the war, the family, now including her brother Tony, moved to Herne Bay, a seaside town in Kent. She lived there for most of her life. Mum trained and worked as a florist in London before marrying and loved to tell stories of the famous people she made arrangements and bouquets for- her high point was one for the Queen. On returning to her hometown with us children she arranged flowers for the weddings and special occasions of family, friends, and neighbors, as well as for our local church, until her fingers wouldn’t cooperate anymore.
Mum loved flowers and cows, taking 100s of photos of each, wherever she went. She enjoyed reading, playing scrabble and doing Sudoku puzzles.
She was called “Nany” by the grandchildren and great grandchildren, so many friends have also simply known her as “Nany”.
She leaves behind, her children, Bridget (Derek) now in Canada, and Andrew (Linda) living in Australia. For many years she split holidays between Canada and Australia, enjoying the beauty of both countries, until coming to Canada on a Super Visa in 2016.
Also, her grandchildren, Megan (Pete), Calum (Kindle), Oliver (Val), and Duncan (Marijke), and her great grandchildren, Anna, Alex, Abi, Andrea; Liam, Isla, Miles, Jackson, Otis; Waylon, Corbin; Tessa, and Declan.
A memorial service will be held December 13th, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. (Alberta time) at the New Hope Gospel Church in Provost, AB. Refreshments will follow the service.
