Stan passed away July 3, 2026, one month short of his 87th birthday. Predeceased by; his wife Peggy, son Dan Pitura, parents Andrew and Jessie Pitura, mother and father in-law Pearl Voakes Doucette and Lawerence Doucette. He is survived by; his children Colleen (Bob) McCrank, Scott (Nancy) Pitura, Doug (Cathy) Pitura, Janet (Garth) Spence, Dale (Sue) Pitura, daughter in-law Carla Pitura, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, siblings Mary (John) Slusar, Ron (Charm) Pitura, sisters in-law Betty Paget, Patsy Voakes, numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.
He had a fulfilling career in law enforcement, serving with the RCMP, Regina City Police and the Saskatchewan Court System. As an entrepreneur he and his wife Peggy owned and operated a hotel in La Flèche, Saskatchewan and motel in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan where they met many people who enriched their lives.
Stan was an avid sportsman, playing hockey and baseball in his high school years and curling through out his life. He enjoyed the outdoors camping, fishing and hunting large and small game as well as birds. He was fortunate to travel and see many places in Canada, the USA and Europe. Wherever Stan lived he was involved in the community and surrounding areas donating his time to many charities and causes. Notably the Royal Canadian Legion Kerrobert Branch No. 88. His last official event June 16, 2026 as Sgt.-in-Arms.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at the Kerrobert hospital for their compassion and care. Those who wish may join the family for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 11:30am-1:00pm in “The Church Hall”, Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church, 430 Yukon Ave., Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Kerrobert Branch No. 88 or charity of choice.
