It is with great heartbreak and sadness that the family of Richard "Dick" Staples announce his passing on Thursday, March 21st, 2024 at the age of 68 years.
Dick will live forever on in the hearts of his beloved wife and best friend Cheryl, his children: Jordan, and John (Ashley), as well as his granddaughter Danielle Townsend. Dick was a good friend, confidant, and Sensei for so many over the years that it would be impossible to put a number on how many lives he had touched.
There will be a Memorial Service held for Dick Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's United Church, Kindersley, SK with The Rev. Piotr Strzelecki officiating. For those unable to attend in person, a Livestream link has been provided below.
For those who wish to leave a donation in lieu of flowers, the family has chosen either Kid Sport or Kindersley & District Health & Wellness Foundation. See below for contact details.
We mourn the passing of Dick Staples, March 21st, 2024, in Kindersley, SK. Age 68.
He was born in Kindersley to Joe and Marion Staples on August 12, 1955. Dick was the fourth of five children and the only son.
After completing high school he attended college in Olds, AB where he met the woman he loved for the rest of his life, Cheryl Kamp.
Post college Dick returned to Kindersley and began farming with his dad. He and Cheryl married on October 15th, 1977, and had two children, Jordan, and John.
For more than forty years he worked hard at caring for the land that his family broke before retiring after the harvest of 2017. During those many years Dick was involved in several activities in the community, but two really stood out. He loved kids and hockey, so he coached minor sports, and he trained in Shotokan Karate, ultimately becoming Sensei Staples.
Dick is survived by his wife, two sons, and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, an elder sister, and many relatives and friends.
