Lila Wichert

The family of Lila Wichert sadly announce her passing on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 96 years. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jake, and children; Dianne (Bill), Gerry (Scoop), and Alex (Afzia), as well as her Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren & extended friends & family.

There will be a funeral service held for Lila on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from St Paul's United Church, Kindersley, SK with The Rev. Piotr Strzelecki officiating.

LILA WICHERT

Lila Estella Wichert passed away peacefully at the age of 96, on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at Heritage Manor in Kindersley.  Lila was born to Horace and Ellen Foulds at Vawn, SK., the fourth of 11 children. After finishing school, Lila worked at Smiley where she met and married Alex McKilligan.  They farmed at Smiley and raised a family of four.  Lila loved animals especially horses. After Alex, died Lila moved to Kindersley.  In 1971, Lila met Jacob Wichert on a holiday tour of the South Pacific.  They married in 1973 and farmed at Fiske before retiring to Kindersley. They shared 45 happy years together.  Lila loved sewing, gardening and cooking.   

Lila is survived by 3 children – Dianne (Bill) Tanasiychuk, Gerry (Scoop) Leeper and Alex (Afzia) McKilligan; 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren as well as 13 great great grandchildren.

Lila also leaves to mourn 1 sister, nieces, nephews and beloved friends, too numerous to name.  She was predeceased by her first husband, Alex, 2 daughters Mavis & Caroline (Ken) Ferner; granddaughter Cindy Robillard, 2 sisters, 7 brothers, 3 sisters–in-law and 3 brothers–in-law.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Kindersley.
