Lil Blasko Obituary

Lil (Schweitzer) Blasko

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our grandmother, Lil Blasko who passed away June 7, 2019, at Royal University Hospital at the age of 76.

Lil was born and raised in Lloydminster, AB, where she had met her high school sweetheart and lifelong husband Paul Blasko.

In high school, if Lil wasn’t seen jiving on the dance floor with Paul, she was most likely twirling a baton as a majorette in the Lloydminster Marching Band.

After her senior year, Lil started her lifelong career in the secretarial world and did not skip a beat in the work force up until her passing.  She started off with many radio jobs with Paul throughout their younger years in Drumheller and North Battleford.  They spent 10 years in Saskatoon where she worked admin at Eaton’s and City Hospital while starting a family.

In the early 70’s they made the big move to Kindersley, SK, where they decided to make it home.  She devoted 25 years in to the RCMP and 12 years in medical records at Kindersley hospital.

Despite Lil’s great work ethic, she enjoyed so much more.  She was active in Beta Sigma Phi for many years, she enjoyed the outdoors, long drives with Paul that led her to see all parts of the world.  Vegas was a common destination spot, which developed her love for the Casino.  Canasta, sitting on her back deck admiring her flower, baking and bird watching with Paul were some more of her passions.

Lil’s greatest passion of all was time spent with her family.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and will be greatly missed by all who know her.  You were taken from us far too soon, but we hope you are at peace, your legacy to our family will forever live on in our hearts and may you be seen as our guardian angel that will be forever watching over us.

Lil is survived by her beloved husband Paul Blasko; children Bonita (Alvin) Leibel, Brad, (Kathy) Blasko; grandchildren April (Jeff) Cullen, Steven Leibel; great-grandchildren Bria and Anna Cullen; and sister Linda (Ray) Squair.

Lil had been predeceased by her parents Marie and Dan Schweitzer, and sister Betty McVany.
