Lee Shortt Obituary
The family of Lee Short (Budd) sadly announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Lee will be forever cherished by her son Dale and daughter Leslie (Tom Weber), her 5 grandchildren: Branden (Iryna), Kristi (John), Christopher (Miranda), Damon (Jaylene), and Keaton - who admired her ability to adapt to any circumstance with grace. She is also remembered by her 3 great-grandchildren: Bru, Arysyn (Damon) and Saul (Branden), her sister Shirley, sisters-in-law Gail Budd (Ron) and Sonia Shortt (Keith), and numerous nieces and nephews. Lee was predeceased by her husband Gordon, her daughter Cindy Flahr, her parents Peter and Mary, and her brothers Reg and Ron. Lee had a deep love for farming, helping run a grain farm and an egg grading station, which kept her tirelessly occupied. She found joy in gardening and was a skilled seamstress and knitter. She took great pleasure in providing ceramic classes to her family and neighbours. In 1975, Lee and Gordon relocated from their farm at Kerrobert to Nanaimo, BC, where she spent many joyful winters gardening, sewing and knitting for her family and giving ceramic classes. Lee and Gordon returned to Kerrobert each year to assist their son Dale during seeding and harvest. In 1997 they moved back to Kerrobert to spend their retirement years. Lee's life was marked by compassion and a profound ability to impart patience and appreciation for even the smallest gestures to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Nanaimo at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Activities Department at the KLD Wellness Centre in Kerrobert.
