A beloved Wife, Sister, Mother & Grandmother. Mom passed away after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy in the Kerrobert Long Term Care Facility with her family by her side. Laura was the 3rd daughter of 6 children born to Victor & Ila Acton of Unity, SK. She was raised on the farm in Scotstown District. Laura was a Registered Nurse who worked at the Unity Union Hospital for 41 years before retiring in 1998. She married the love of her life, Walter Leeson, and they farmed south of Unity on the family farm overlooking Muddy Lake. They enjoyed life together for 36 years until his passing. Laura loved to garden, cook, sew, read & care for her neighbours. Through lots of Love, Laughter, Family, & Close Friends, Laura had a long and beautiful life.
Laura is survived by her children Kevin Leeson (Margery Forbes-Leeson) and Kari Miles, nee Leeson (Peter Miles), her 2 grandchildren Alexander & Bronwyn Miles, and her siblings Lucy Mawbey, Myrtle Acton, Lorne Acton, & Ruth Whitney.
She is predeceased by her parents Victor & Ila Acton, her brother James Acton and her husband Walter Leeson.
Due to Covid precautions, a small service will be held for Laura at the Unity United Church on October 31, 2020 at 2 PM with Ministers Gary Johnson & Vern Kocski. The public is invited to join the service through FACEBOOK by searching Gary Johnson. Music will be provided by Irene Thiessen-Campbell. Donations in Laura’s memory can be made to the Unity Health Care Auxillary. Cremation is entrusted to Kerrobert Funeral Home & Crematorium.
A special thank-you to all the staff at the Kerrobert Long Term Health Care Facility who cared for Laura during her 3 ½ years there. A loving thank-you to all our family & friends who stayed connected with Laura and us as she struggled with PSP. She always appreciated community and family updates.
