Josephine "Josie" Chotowetz Obituary

With great sadness we announce that Josephine “Josie” Chotowetz passed away unexpectedly at her home in Kindersley, Saskatchewan on February 21, 2022.  One month short of her 88th birthday. Mom was born March 22nd, 1934 near Fox Valley, Saskatchewan.  She married the love of her life John Chotowetz in Major on June 3rd, 1954. Together they farmed at Major, Saskatchewan and raised their family of eight children.  In 2009 they built their retirement home and moved into Kindersley, Saskatchewan.

Josie was a woman of great faith who took pride in her role with The Catholic Women’s League in Major and Kindersley.  She directed the Major Catholic Church Choir for years and always had a special place in her heart for “her choir family”.  She loved her farm life, she loved her life in Major in the rink, in the church and throughout the community.  She made a new group of dear friends in her Kindersley cul-de-sac where she loved her flower gardening, baking, and entertaining her large family and many friends.

Josie is survived by her loving husband John and her children Randy (Marian) , Scharlene (Brian Ireland), Terry (Elaine), Paulette, Tim, Bernadine(Doug Dommett), Kelly (Celine), Karen (Andy Kissick) and the lights of her life 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. As well, many nieces and nephews, brother, sister in-laws and brother in-laws who she cherished and took great pride in.   She was predeceased by her parents John and Jacobina Ternes, her in-laws Andrew and Elizabeth Chotowetz and many of Ternes and Chotowetz siblings, in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Mom came from humble hard beginnings and then she met her true love Dad, together they made a life of family, friends, and true love.

Celebration of Life Mass will be held Saturday, February 26th 1 pm at Church of Assumption Kerrobert, Saskatchewan with Father Daniel Yasinski and Father Glenn Zimmer presiding.  Josie will be laid to her eternal rest in Major Cemetery, Major, Saskatchewan.  The Mass will be Live Streamed from the Kerrobert Catholic Church Facebook page at the link below.
