Joseph "Joe" Schmaltz

In loving memory of Joe Schmaltz who passed away on Saturday May 5th 2018 at the age of 84 years. Beloved Husband of Frances and father of Joyce, Janice, Joeann, Jeanine, Robert, Rick, Sherry, & Sue.

A funeral Mass will be held for Joe on Friday May 11th 2018 at 10:00 A.M. from Little Flower Catholic Church, Leader, Saskatchewan with Rev Fr. Joseph Thazhathemuriyil as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Leader Cemetery. Prayers will be said from the church Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M.

Joe Schmaltz

Joe was born on February 3rd, 1934 on his parents’ farm South of Portreeve.  Joe passed away peacefully at the Leader Hospital on May 5th, 2018 with his loving wife Frances by his side.

Joe is survived by his wife Frances of 63 years.  He leaves behind 8 children; Joyce (Lyle) Bachmeier, Janice (John) Wipf, Joeann Schmaltz, Jeanine (Late husband Marlon) Smith, Robert Schmaltz, Rick (Denise) Schmaltz, Sherry (Randy) Geissler, and Sue (Darnell) Jadischke.  He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Joe is also survived by his brother Eugene (Rosemarie) Schmaltz, as well as his sisters; Betty, Phil, Barbara, and Theresa.  Joe leaves behind his beautiful dog Princess, who he loved dearly.  He cherished every moment he could spend with his loved ones.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Anthony & Barbara Schmaltz, his sisters; Ann, Rose, & Priscilla, also by his brothers; Frank & Chris.

Dad had a love for his lights, yard, birds & kept the street on which he lived, clean.
