With deep sadness, the family of John Pigula announces his peaceful passing on March 1, 2026, at the Heritage Manor in Kindersley, Sask.
John was born at home on the family farm near Fosston, SK, on April 25, 1937. He was the fourth oldest of nine children to his parents, John and Mary (Konstantynwich) Pigula. John would help his parents on the family farm as a young boy, along with his siblings.
In July of 1959, John left the family farm to work in Thompson, Manitoba, at a mine site, and would later return to the family farm to help his brother Mike. John and Mike would retire from grain farming and, five years later, would sell the cattle. John and Mike decided to sell the family farm in 2005, and John moved to Naciam in 2007.
John met Lillian in 2010 in Naciam, and after a while, they decided to become a couple for the rest of their lives. John would relocate to Kindersley in February 2022 to be with Lillian, whom he loved deeply. John enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting, and fishing.
John is survived by his common-law spouse Lillian Soderholm, his step-daughter Betty Soderholm, his sister Eileen Pigula, his brother Alex Pigula, and Alex’s wife Janis, his sisters-in-law Jeanette, and Doris Pigula, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John is predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Pigula, siblings Gladys and (Joseph) Melnychuk, Anne Baynes (Bruce Baynes), Peter Pigula, William (Judy Olson) Pigula, Sophie Pigula, Mike Pigula, and nephew Peter Melnychuk.
Everyone who cared for John and had the chance to know him will feel his absence profoundly.
For those who wish, donations in memory of John can be made to a charity of your choice.
