With both sorrow and joy, we, the family of John Hebert of Glidden/Kindersley, SK, announce his passing on November 6, 2025.
We are grateful to God for allowing our Husband/Dad/Opa to be with us as long as he was here. Dad is now with his ever-loving Heavenly Father, whom he devoted his life to.
Dad was born on January 15, 1932, to Nicholas and Suzanna Hebert of Glidden, SK.
Dad married Mom, Edith Helena Krahn, on September 28, 1957, in the Glidden/Madison Mennonite Church. They farmed their whole lives together, raising four children. Together, they leave a legacy of hard work, determination, and the love of growth and nurturing to their family.
Dad was always a part of the community: helping friends and neighbors and the church. Dad served as Councilor and Reeve for the RM of Newcombe from 1990 – 2010. Dad also served as a Deacon of the Brethren in Christ Church for 35 years. He had a passion for the Canadian Food Grains Bank, and he served as a Board Member and a grain contributor for many years. Dad was also an organizer of the West Central Road and Rail. Dad spent many years dedicated to the Saskatchewan Mennonite Central Committee and was a Board Member at one point.
Due to Dementia, in February 2023, Dad required more care and was admitted into the Manor in Kindersley.
Even with dementia, he still had his wit and humorous sayings, which will be remembered by all who knew him.
Dad remains in our hearts and is lovingly remembered by Edith Hebert, his wife of 68 years, his children – Joan Hebert (Ken Miller); Wes Hebert (Audrey); Nancy Hebert; Colleen Hebert (Phil Harms), and his grandchildren, Nathan, Travis, Mark (Larissa), and Nicole.
Psalm 91:1 – We live within the shadow of the Almighty, sheltered by the God who is above all gods.
We wish to thank the Doctors and Staff at the Manor who cared for Dad.
A private family service will be held on Saturday, November 29th, 2025.
