Joan grew up in the village of Stranraer, SK, with her parents, George and Viola Walker, and four siblings, Eileen (Close), Graham Walker, Jean (Smith), and Ronald (Bud) Walker.
She married Bill Stephenson in 1950, and they have two daughters, Pat (Colin) McMillan and Peggy (Tom) Joyce, Grandchildren; Maureen, Cameron, Boyd (Steph) McMillan, Spencer (Ainsley) Joyce, Stacey (Dave) McIntosh, Great-grandchildren; Lauryn, Cailen, Hadley, Evie, Aysa, Simon, Jasper.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Bill; sister and brother-in-law Jean and Don Smith, sisters-in-law Vivian Walker, and Ada Stephenson.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Eileen, and brothers Graham and Bud.
Joan and Bill farmed together and enjoyed time in the Stranraer community, and at their cabin at Cochin. They also spent about fifty winters in Mesa, AZ, enjoying time golfing, swimming, sight-seeing, and socializing with friends. Time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a joy for Joan.
Joan will be lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her.
