Joan Bosch Obituary

Joan Bosch of Fox Valley, beloved wife of the late Clem Bosch, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the age of 84 years,

Joan was born in Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan on August 21, 1941 to Anthony Mamer and Melinda nee Brinkman.

Joan was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Melinda Mamer, husband Clem Bosch, stepmother Rita Mamer, in-laws Joe and Ottilla Bosch, brother Henry Mamer, in-laws John Bosch (Edith), Carol Bosch, Barb Sehn, Magdalen Soehn (August), Henry Bosch, and Alex Macaulay.

She is survived by her children Stewart Bosch (Crystal), and Shelly Fransoo (Paul), and grandchildren Cole, Josh and Nate Fransoo, brothers Bernard Mamer (Eveline), Lorne Mamer (Francoise), Jim Mamer (Doris), Paul Mamer (Marilyn), Daniel Mamer (Shirley); sister Bernadette Tremblay (Kevin); in-laws Marlene Mamer, Al Bosch, George Bosch (Marlene), Terry Clements, Vivian Bosch, Ralph Bosch (Pat), Theresa Macaulay, Bill Bosch (Georgina), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Being the oldest girl in the family, Joan’s early years were spent cooking, cleaning and looking after her younger brothers.  They all developed a taste for her cooking.  She attended High School at Saint Ursula’s Academy in Bruno for Grades 9-12, which further deepened her Catholic faith.  On completing High school, she attended Teacher’s College in Saskatoon which she paid for on her own.  She started her teaching career in a variety of places, many being one room school houses with multigrade classrooms which eventually brought her to the Liebenthal district where she met the love of her life, Clem Bosch.

Joan and Clem were married on July 1, 1967, and were blessed with 2 children.  Stewart, February 16, 1969, and Shelly, August 23, 1975.  They lived on the Bosch family homestead east of Liebenthal where they had a mixed farm of grain and cattle, along with chickens, pigs, horses, cats, dogs and a healthy garden.  Joan continued to substitute teach, and many students, now adults in the district, have stories of “their favourite teacher.”

Joan had a passion for cooking and baking.  There was never a time when something could not be brought out when friends, family and neighbours popped by.

Joan’s faith was very important.  Sundays were always reserved for going to church, visiting friends and neighbours and playing cards in the evening. Many games of Schmear and Rookie were played, especially during the slower winter months.

Family was also very important to Joan.  Even under extreme weather and road conditions, reunions, Christmas’ and family gatherings were not to be missed.

Just before Christmas in 1999, Clem fell sick, and Joan lost her partner of 32 years on Feb. 15, 2000.  Joan continued to live on the farm with Stewart, until July of 2007, when she moved into Fox Valley, after living on the farm for 40 years.

During her retirement in town, her passions took even more of a center stage.  Many more meals, bread, buns, and baking, were produced from her kitchen.

Joan was blessed with 3 grandchildren that she could dote on. Numerous card games like cribbage and durak were played and she followed their various athletic activities including baseball, football, basketball, and volleyball.  She was especially proud of their academic achievements.  Joan also had local “adoptive” grandchildren that she followed through their various athletic and academic achievements and was equally proud.

Joan was able to be independent, live on her own, drive her own car, and do what she wanted to do right until the very end.

Joan will be remembered for her generosity, her quiet strength, and her ability to make every person feel welcome at her table. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Prayers will be held for Joan on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, at 7:30 PM from St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Fox Valley, SK.  The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, November 10th at 11:00 AM from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Liebenthal, SK with the interment to follow in the Liebenthal Cemetery.
