Irene Eveylen Hyland

The family of Irene Eveylen Hyland, sadly announce her passing on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the age of 96 years.

Irene Evelyn Hyland was born on January 18, 1924 to Frank and Genevieve Scott, the eldest of six children in Empress, Alberta.

As the oldest, she learned hard work, and how to watch over her baby brothers and sisters, so carried these skills into her own home. She loved reading, swimming, and cooking, but left the sewing and decorating to her sisters she said!

She met her true love, Mac at a church picnic in Mantario, Sask. They dated for a year, and on November 16, 1941, they wed. Their love carried them through many hard times, and also the good times. They raised their family on their farm/ranch near Mantario. Irene faithfully took her children to Sunday school, and those roots of faith were established early in their lives. Mac and Irene came to strong faith in the late 70s, so took the gospel wherever they could, Cowboy Church, FGBM, circle Square Ranch in Halkirk, Rankin Inlet, to the Inuit, Singapore, China, to the first nations here in Sask and Alta.as well as Pastoring in Cereal Alta. They served in local church bodies, and never missed an opportunity to share Jesus love to whomever they could. After Mac's passing in 2001, Irene bravely continued serving her Lord, through home Bible studies and prayer groups. Her most recent adventure was to Guatemala at 90 years young. She truly inspired many! Through it all, she made many friends and lasting relationships.

Her last move was to Eatonia Oasis Living, in Eatonia. There on December 4, 2020, Irene passed away leaving for her Heavenly home. 

She leaves to grieve, her children: Ed (Edna), daughter-in-law Elaine (Wayne-d), Ken (Hanna), Dennis (Marilyn), Lorrie (Ross), Donna (Don), Garry (Sandi)

Todd (Lori) her 25 Grandchildren, 38 Great grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild. She was predeceased by 2 sons, Leonard, and Wayne and 1 Grandson, Casey. Also survived by 2 sisters, Ruth, and Jean, and 1 brother Bill (Pam). Predeceased by her brother Ralph, and sister Marge, as well as her parents

Due to COVID restrictions, the family will have a celebration of life at a later date. They also ask, in lieu of flowers, donations to EOL care home be made in her honour.
