Henry W. Rische

In loving memory of Henry Rische who passed away on Monday, April 13th 2020 at the age of 98 years. Beloved husband of the late Anne Rische, and stepfather of Joan (Jim) Budd.

Henry was born in Luseland in 1921 and took his schooling there.  He worked as a farm hand for a few years and spent most of his wages he earned to buy work horses for the family farm.

In January of 1943 Henry joined the army, and “started raking the dough”!  The starting salary was $1.50 a day with free room and board.  Henry was able to send home $20.00 every month to help purchase their first rubber-tired tractor for the farm.  After completing his training in Canada, Henry was sent overseas where he served with the Regina Rifle Regiment.  In 1946 after receiving his discharge papers, he came back home to farm.

In 1963 Henry married Anne Gerlinsky, who had been widowed in 1960, and they had lived in Luseland ever since.  Henry believed that farming had been very good to them and felt that the earlier hardships they had endured had helped them to appreciate the better times that they had experienced.  Henry & Anne both enjoy sports very much, especially curling.  In the many years of taking an active part in numerous bonspiels in the district they particularly enjoyed the comradeship it brought.  In the later years, they enjoyed travelling as much as they could during their retirement.

At Henry's request there will be no service.
