Helen Elizabeth McGinnis

The family of Helen McGinnis are saddened to announce her passing on Wednesday July 28th, 2021 at the age of 80. Loving mother of Kelly, Terry, and Mike.

There will be a Funeral Service for Helen on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Luseland, SK with Pastor Robert Grout officiating.

Following the service, Helen will be laid to rest in the Kerrobert Cemetery.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Helen McGinnis announce her death on July 28 after a dignified battle with cancer. Born to parents Fritz and Elsie Hering on December 29, 1940, Helen’s early years were spent on the farm before the family moved into Kerrobert.

Dependable, smart, and determined, Helen spent her working career largely in the legal field, first as an administrative assistant at law firms in Kerrobert and later for 25 years as Deputy Sheriff/Local Registrar for the Province of Saskatchewan based in the Kerrobert Courthouse. After her retirement from the Provincial Government Helen worked for another 25 years with the Luseland Police Service, in addition to process serving and working as the secretary for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Luseland. 

A gentle soul with a sweet tooth and sense of humour hidden by her quiet demeanor, Helen enjoyed concerts, golf, local events, and above all else time with her beloved family and friends. 

Helen was a mother to Kelly (Marc), Terry (Corrie), and Michael; Grandmother to Adam, Brandon (Theresa), Candace (Tyler), Lincoln, Tanner, and Conor; and Great Grandmother to Brooklyn, Kingston, Bentley, and Alivia.  

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, David and Jack; and former husband Richard McGinnis. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, sister Mary Ann (Neil) Charteris and family; sisters-in-law Marilyn Hering and Loret Hering and their families; friends, and all who crossed paths with Helen along her journey.

Helen’s family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the medical personnel who provided excellent care and comfort during Helen’s illness and in her final days at Kerrobert Hospital.
