Harry Nagel Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear cousin and friend, Harry Gene.

Harry was born in Leader, Sk. on January 31st, 1953, the only child of Alfred (Harry) & Anne Nagel. All of his years and education were spent here in Leader. He was gone for a short period of time attending St Thomas College in North Battleford, Sk. from 1969-1971. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed doing, fishing and hunting. But the best one was he was an amazing and talented artist. He has done many paintings over the years. I am sure there are a few of you out there that have some of his work displayed in your homes. We have some of his artwork memories here today on display of his amazing talent.

In his younger years of attending school, he was a class clown, when he was in trouble, he seemed to have a way to wiggle out of the situation and become known as a weasel. This name labelled him and was known to everyone as "Weasel". He was a great teaser, had a great love for kids, and enjoyed teasing them immensely and laughing afterwards. When he told many stories about himself over the years and would always laugh at himself since he had such a great sense of humor. With his infectious laugh you always knew he was somewhere in the crowd even though you didn't spot him at the moment, you could always find him following his laughter. From some of his stories he told you, you could learn a lesson and appreciate simple things in life as well. Whenever I would be overlooking after him or someone did something for him, he would sincerely thank them from the bottom of his heart, he appreciated everything that each and everyone did for him.

He married his sweetheart and poopsie Laurie Tweten on September 4th, 1982. They spent their life together until her passing in 2005.

After the loss of his poopsie and his mother, life was never the same. He was a man who never shared his hurt or how he felt.

He loved animals and had a special soft spot in his heart for cats and fed many a stray cat that would arrive on his doorstep. He also thought he could sing and play guitar. He would always joke and ask if he should sing you a son. The reply back would be politely no, not today, usually. He would laugh and start to sing the lines Brown as a Berry from riding the prairie. To honour him today that will be the recessional song that we have chosen sung by Eddie Arnold the Cattle Call.

He was also a very caring and friendly person, anytime whoever it would be he would meet on his daily journeys he would ask how are you today? Then at the end of his conversation he would say now you can the rest of the day off.

Harry Gene will be forever remembered in the hearts of his dear cousin Norma Jadischke, Blair (Late) Joan Eichhorn, many close cousins on both sides of his parents Alfred and Anne Nagel, his extended Tweten family, Mel, Bonnie, Wendy, Karen and Rob. Along with his close and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Mr and Mrs Drschiwiski, August and Christina Nagel, his parent Alfred and Anne Nagel, his wife Laurie Tweten, many uncles, aunts and cousins on both sides of the family. His dear cousin Blair Eicchorn and his friend Curt Hanson.

Thank you to each and everyone for the love and support and being there for Harry Gene over the years. We will all miss him dearly and love him forever. Rest in peace

We are all painters

We all paint our lives, the mountains of challenges, the rivers of tears, the waterfalls of joy. We mix the colours of sorrow and laughter, and add the colors of experience and the years that passed.

The souls we will always remember, and the moments we will never forget.
