It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gordon George Holmes, formerly of Kindersley, Saskatchewan.
Gordon was born on July 11, 1932, in Dodsland, Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025. He was the only child of George and Dora Holmes and was raised on the family farm near Kindersley.
Gordon spent most of his life farming after early employment with Sask Power and managing a sporting goods store. He also owned the Kindersley Car wash for years and worked to bring in the Turbo Gas station. On October 15, 1955, he married the love of his life, Doris Wolsey (predeceased), with whom he raised three children and shared many years devoted to farming, community life, and church involvement. Following Doris’s passing, Gordon later married Lorraine Scoffin (predeceased).
Gordon enjoyed baseball, curling, bridge, travelling, golfing, and spending time at the family cabin at Turtle Lake. He also wintered for several years in Mesa, Arizona, where he enjoyed golf and many friendships. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Gordon was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and deep love of family.
He is lovingly remembered by his children Jim (Cheryl Christiaens), Pat (Tim Elliott), and Cathy (Mike Melling); his grandchildren Katherine, Stacey, Jeff, and Kelsi; and his great-grandchildren Halley, Ainsley, Raylan, Harlan, Lochlan, and Lilley.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents George and Dora Holmes and his brother-in-law John Wolsey.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Gordon’s physician, Dr. Eisner, for his exceptional care and compassion. They also wish to thank the staff at Cambridge Manor and Nurse Next Door for their kindness, care, and companionship.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kindersley, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB in Gordon’s memory.
