David Stanley Cooke

David Stanley Cooke, age 58, of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 10, 2025, after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer.

David was known for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and deep devotion to his family. A hard worker throughout his life, David approached everything he did with commitment, responsibility, and care—whether it was in his work, his home, or in support of those around him. His strong work ethic was matched only by his loyalty to the people he loved.

David is survived by his loving wife, Patty; his daughters, Morgan Clappison (Troy) and Kelly Ryberg (Brody); and his grandsons, Bennett Ryberg and Aiden Clappison, who were his greatest joy. He is also survived by his father, Robert Cooke; his uncle, Fred Cooke (Joan); his mother-in-law, Grace Melnyk; his brothers-in-law, Marvin Melnyk (Roseann) and Brian Melnyk (Andrea); and his niece, Carissa Melnyk. As well as, many other extended family members.

He was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Cooke; his twin sister, Donna Cooke; his father-in-law, Allan Melnyk, and his grandparents.

David’s humble confidence and quiet pride left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was a mentor to many, often without a single word, leading by example and inspiring others through his actions, integrity, and unwavering character.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Kindersley Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during David’s final days and throughout his illness.  Your kindness and dedication brought comfort to both Dave and our family, and we are deeply grateful.  We would also like to thank Dr. Roy and the nurses and staff at RUH Unit 5000.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM from St. Paul’s United Church in Kindersley, SK.  All who knew David are welcome to attend and honor him.

A funeral lunch will immediately follow the service, as there will be a private family committal.
