Atha Hartsook Obituary

The family of Atha May Hartsook, sadly announce her passing on Saturday, June 6th, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

Beloved wife of the late Gerald Hartsook, and mother of Mary Del Mutch, Susan Melle, Joanne Kennedy, John Hartsook, & Peggy Prichard.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will be a private funeral service for Atha at a later date.

Atha was born August 30,1926 in Empress, AB.  Later she was raised in Pennant, Sk.

She attended teacher training at Normal School in Moose Jaw, and taught at Guthrie School Sk. She met the love of her life Gerald Hartsook and was married on September 30, 1949.  They farmed and raised a family near Eston for many many years.  Their children are Mary Del Mutch, Susan Melle, Joanne Kennedy, John Hartsook and Peggy Prichard. Once their family was raised they loved to spend time traveling and went to many country's including always being on hand when a new grandchild arrived.  She was very involved in the Eston Full Gospel church teaching Sunday School and Pioneer Girls for 40 plus years. She was a great mentor and had spiritual influence to many children over the years.  Her many interests included gardening, sewing, needle work, crossword puzzles, and attending Bible Study. She was admired for her hospitality, friend to many, servant heart, and cheerful wit.  She willingly used her gift playing the piano at the Jubilee Lodge for many years. 

Atha will lovingly be remembered by her children and their spouses, 14 grand children(Brad deceased) and many many great grand children. 

We wish to sincerely thank all staff and volunteers at the Eston Jubilee Lodge for the special care that she received. 

She is pre deceased by her husband Gerald, her parents, Pearl and Blake Shaw, her sisters Beryl Dowdeswell, Orla Ehmen and her twin brother Alvin Shaw.
