Anthony Bevan Obituary

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ANTHONY BEARDMORE BEVAN

Anthony Bevan, a man who lived fully, worked tirelessly and left a lasting mark on the lives of many. Tony was born 09 March 1944 in Leeds, England and passed away peacefully with family by his side, at the Kindersley Hospital, Kindersley SK on Tuesday 19 May 2026, at the age of 82 years.

Tony is survived by his wife Evelyn, son Colin Bevan (Bonnie), daughter Jascinta Bevan, son George Bevan, sister Ruth Bevan, niece & nephew Janice Berger & Jay Bevan. Cherished grandfather to Kaitlyn, Conrad, and Hazel-Anaice. He had been pre-deceased by: his parents Joan Walker Bevan and adoptive father Lloyd Bevan, and his sister Ann Bevan Kappelman.

At the young age of 4 years old, after the 2nd World War, he and his mother immigrated to Canada and settled in the Druid, SK area. He left school after grade 10 to operate the family farm. And from the original Bevan family farm, Tony moved to North Battleford. In 1967 Tony met and married his loving wife Evelyn prior to moving to Swift Current. Soon to arrive was their son Colin. Tony owned and worked as a mechanic at a Service Station combined with Marine Outboard Sales Center. From there they then moved to Herschel SK where they welcomed the arrival of Jascinta and George. Life was filled with farming, agricultural mechanical work, aircraft rebuilding and flying.

Anthony’s life is not measured simply in years, but by the people he helped, the work he devoted himself to, and the legacy he leaves behind. Over the ensuing years, he has accomplished many undertakings that have honoured him with a very full life. He obtained his Journeyman Automotive and Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification, successfully obtained his Commercial Pilot License, became licensed as an Aircraft Engineer, owned and operated Herschel Air Service as an aerial application business, was a 14 year member of the Provincial Pesticide Board, obtained Ship’s Captain License (to 100 tons), was past president of the local Elk’s club, and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion.

During his time as aerial applicator, he was the first president and founding member of the SAAAA, which later became the SAAA (Saskatchewan Aerial Applicators Association) (past president). He also was one of the founding members of the CAAA (Canadian Aerial Applicators Association) (president 1987-88). His contributions to the industry have been significant and will be ever lasting. Through his personal relationship with the Minister of Transport, Otto Lang, the CAAA was granted a permanent opportunity to meet with the Sitting Minister annually. A policy that still stands today.

Tony was an early pioneer and leader of closed chemical induction systems. He was the original creator of the now popular “chem handler” used in almost every Canadian spray operation both aerial and ground. Tony signed his development and proprietary right over to Roth Enterprises that branded the product as the “Handler”. He continued to follow the activities of the industry that played a significant role in his life, as his family continued within the Aerial Application Industry.

When Tony, Ev, Jascinta and George decided to move to the warmer climate of St Lucia, he continued to keep himself busy. He managed a boat yard facility, refurbished a sailboat, and sailed the Caribbean. When an opportunity arose, they purchased a property in St Lucia which they converted into multiple rental units and this became Harbour Terrace, which is managed and still maintained.

Tony was later offered the opportunity to help refurbish a hotel in St Lucia into a private hospital with the invitation coming from physician friend, Dr. Trona Bennett. Initially a 2week engagement, evolved into a fulltime commitment. He was known as “Mister Fix-it”. Becoming Tapion Hospital’s property manager, Tony was able to help develop the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Radiology Dept, and construction of a new wing of the hospital. Tony was revered for his capabilities and construction skills which helped him to significantly expand the hospital’s medical services. On 13 May 2026, Tapion Hospital had an Unveiling Ceremony of the Founders and Icons of the hospital, of which Tony was recognized for his service. His involvement in Tapion Hospital’s growth and success remains one of the most rewarding aspects of his professional journey.

From St Lucia, Tony moved back to Canada to Kindersley, and was able to enjoy Saskatchewan life once again. But beyond his accomplishments, Tony will be remembered most for the kind of man he was. He carried wisdom earned through experience and offered it freely to those around him. Though we mourn his passing, his legacy lives on in the family he loved, the people he helped, the work he accomplished, and the many lives he touched along the way.

May he rest in peace.

Following Tony's wishes, there well be no service and in lieu of flowers, the family has chosen to support the Kindersley & District Wellness Foundation.
