It is with grieving hearts that the family of Wilf Istace announce his passing on May 11, 2019 in the Kindersley Hospital, at the age of 82 years.
Wilf was born July 9th, 1936 on the homestead in fletwode SK, the eldest son of Florida and Joseph Istace.
In 1955 he made his way to Kindersley. Wilf and Wanda met shortly thereafter and were married May 30, 1957. The two made Kindersley their home, and they welcomed four children; Susan, Faith, Jean and Sam.
Many from the community and surrounding areas will remember Dad from his 46 years with Construction Services. He loved driving truck and the White Western Star was his favorite. His neighbours will remember him from the many fence visits, and hearing him out whistling for his cat, Buddy. Others may remember him from the rodeo, bull riding was his favorite event to attend. Some will remember his natural carpentry skills or his “know how” when helping with weekend projects. Most everyone will remember Dad for his kindness, gentle disposition, beautiful blue eyes and charismatic grin.
We will remember family celebrations for every single holiday and birthday for all that could make it. Dillberry camping trips where food and card games were abundant. The on-going cribbage challenge, where it may only be a quarter to others, but it came with bragging rights when you won it. His determination when met with a challenge. Dad’s love of both people and animals. His love for his family!
We will miss Dad’s great sense of humor, especially with his grandchildren. Early morning birthday phone serenades, as loud and out of tune as he possibly could. Advice on fixing or building anything made of wood. Breakfast, at his place, every single Christmas morning. We will miss so many things.
He leaves to mourn his children Susan (John) Lefebvre, Faith Ranger, Jean (Kevin Polsfut) Istace and Sam (Tracey) Istace. His cherished grandchildren; Joey (Tara) Bernie, Richie Ranger, Anna and Emily Posfut, Brody Istace, Kelsi Wall; great-granddaughter Kylyn. Also he leaves many nieces and nephews and some very wonderful friends.
Wilf had been predeceased by the love of his life, Wanda (Hunter) Istace; his parents Florida and Joseph; grandsons Michael and Reggie; sister Bernice; brother Leon; in-laws Birdie Mae and Bill Hunter.
There will be a memorial service will be held for Wilf at St. Paul's United United Church, Kindersley SK on Friday, May 17th 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev Jim MacNaughton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Kindersley Cemetery Columbarium.
