Louise Kollman (nee Schachtel)

Louise passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 21, 2019 at the age of 87 years in her residence at Heritage Manor in Kindersley, Saskatchewan.   She is forever loved and remembered by her husband of 65 years, Ben, their six children: Jerry (Pam Kollman), Betty (Norm Phillips), Janice (Rick Blair), Shirley (Dennis Knorr), Shelley (Glen Gottfried) and Bernie Kollman (Brian McPherson); the grandchildren: Andrea (Tyler Luca), Kimberly (Byron Lloyd), Chad (Jahnel Kollman), Mike (Nancy Phillips), Matt (Natasha Phillips), Jayne Phillips, Dan (Courtney Blair), Steven (Olivia Blair), Kaitlin (Stephen Little), Curtis Blair (Tasha Lagran), Amanda (Jeremy Pangman), Christopher Knorr, Randy Gottfried (Laura Greenwood), Brian (Kierra Gottfried), and 22 great grandchildren; her sister: Sally Bardick and brother Joe (Beth Schachtel); sisters-in-law:  Mary Bardick, Jeanette Kollman, Mary-Anne Kollman and other relatives and friends.  Louise was pre-deceased by her sister, Kathy Ehman and brothers, Eddie and Albert Schachtel.

Born in Grosswerder, Saskatchewan, Louise exemplified the prairie spirit – kind, loving, hard working, generous, committed to her faith and all whom she loved.  Her garden, baking, cooking and caring for others gave her great joy.  She was dedicated to her family, her community, and the friendships created through volunteer work at the Major catholic church, the Catholic Women’s League (CWL), and Wheatland Regional Library.  Formerly, Louise was proud to work as a nurse, before marriage, in Macklin and in Banff, as well as Secretary for the Village of Major for many years.  We will celebrate Louise’s life with Mass at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Major, Saskatchewan.  Interment at Major Cemetery, with  fellowship and lunch at Major Centennial Hall immediately following.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, Box 7, Major, Saskatchewan  S0L 2H0.
