With saddened hearts, the family of Lilian Acker announce her passing on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the age of 94 years.
Lilian was born in Bermondsey, a borough of London, England on May 30th 1924 to father Frederick Charles Wiliams and mother Daisy Hilton Wiliams to a family of 8 siblings.
Lilian met her future husband Kenneth Delbert Acker in July 1942 when he was a Sergeant with the 67th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery of the Royal Canadian Artillery posted in Beckenham, England. They were engaged in early 1943 and married on December 25th, 1943.
After the war ended Lilian came to Canada aboard the Lady Nelson and arrived in Halifax on May 7th, 1946. She then traveled by train to Kindersley.
Lilian and Ken settled in Kindersley where she remained for the rest of her life. Lilian found the prairies very big and open after having lived in the suburbs of London, England. After settling Lilian and Ken embarked on having a family which resulted in 5 children, David, Maureen, Sheila, Lloyd and Brian, they were very happy raising their family.
In 1969, tragedy struck when Ken passed away from cancer on January 18th, leaving Lilian with the 5 children to raise. She took the challenge of raising the family and started working at the House of Shoes in Kindersley in 1972 to support the family and continued working there until 1986 when she retired. Lilian enjoyed her retirement and had relatively good health up until a few months before her passing.
Lilian will be lovingly remembered by her children; David (Sharon) Acker, Maureen Lloyd, Sheila (Doug) Francis, Lloyd (Shae) Acker, Brian (Pat) Acker, as well as her many Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by several siblings and a number of nieces and nephews in England.
Lilian was predeceased by her husband Ken in 1969 and her son-in-law Tom Lloyd in 2007, as well as her mother and father and a number of siblings.
A Memorial service will be held for Lillian on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm. at the Kindersley Community Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Kindersley Cemetery.
