Kay Schan

In loving memory of Kay Schan, who passed away on Friday, December 6th 2019 at the age of 80 years. Beloved wife of Bob Schan and mother of Doug (Laureen) Schan, Ron Schan, and grandmother of Ryan & Andrea.

There will be a private Graveside gathering for Kay at a later date.

       Kay Francis Schan, born on the farm to Lloyd and Margaret Larson near Jellicoe School (Dodsland, SK) on February 21, 1939, passed away on Dec 6, 2019 in Saskatoon.    Kay was the second youngest of 6 children and went to Jellicoe School until completing her high school education in Dodsland.  After which she worked as a telephone operator in Kerrobert.

Growing up she played softball with the Jellicoe team.  Kay was a great pitcher & was nicknamed “Casey”.  She also enjoyed playing hockey, downhill skiing and loved to figure skate.

She loved to travel with her sons to horse shows, too, and was always happy to bring lunch!  Kay was a 4-H member herself and continued as a leader in Dodsland’s club for many years.  Kay became a wonderful cook seamstress,  gardener and loved to spend time keeping a beautiful yard. Playing cards and games were always played with enthusiasm and fun with her!

Kay married Robert Schan in 1958, moved to the farm north east of Dodsland and was blessed with 2 sons.

She was a great greeter in the Walmart when they moved to Kindersley.  Kay loved everyone and was always full of smiles and jokes making it easy to love her back.

She is predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Margaret Larson; brother, Gordon and sister, Dora (Mullen).  Kay is survived by Bob, her loving husband of 61 years; son, Douglas (Laureen); son, Ronald; grandchildren, Ryan Schan and Andrea Schan; sisters, Lorraine (Riendeau); Doreen (Weldon) Bacon and Ruby Songhurst.

Kay has asked that no service be held.
