Nancy Leonard Obituary

Nancy Leonard

It is with shock and sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Nancy Jean Leonard of Young, Saskatchewan who passed away suddenly on March 20, 2024.

Born May 18, 1957, Nancy was the third of seven children born to the lates Freeda and Barney ‘Earl’ Leonard. Nancy lived a full life and touched many lives along the way.

Nancy excelled the art of cooking and was enthusiastic about it throughout her life. Her cooking skills took her on many adventures that included cooking for hotels and work camps. She even ran her own restaurant for a time and owned her own food truck. It was a common sight to see Nancy writing out another recipe to try out, she worked hard and would never let her medical challenges hold her back. She remained in the cooking industry with her most recent venture being helping with banquets at the famous "Danceland" in Watrous.

Nancy loved being part of a large, close-knit family and would be the first one to respond positively to an invitation to a family gathering. Again, at the front of the line to shop for anything needed for a meal or party.

Nancy was passionate (to say the least!) about decorating her homes and had recently contracted a full renovation and deck addition to her home in Young.

You would never know from talking with Nancy, the heath challenges she faced in the past number of years, many the result of unfortunate accidents. She remained positive, and upbeat in any circumstance. Her family lovingly referred to her as "one tough cookie.”

Nancy will be missed by her siblings: Wes (Cathy), Heather (Doug), Kim, Bob (Carol), Bernie (Murray) and Sally (Roman). Her nieces and nephews: Troy, Jody (Mikki), Darcy (Kimmy), Curtis (Jennifer), Jessica (Brendan), Anthony, Sydney (Noah) and Mackenzie; great nieces, and nephews: Ty, Ambria, Mikaila, Marissa, Hunter, Scarlett, Zinnia, and Margot, as well as many friends.

The family will hold a private service and encourages others to gather and celebrate Nancy's life in their own way.
May she rest in peace.
