Vivian Grace (Hill) Wenzel

Vivian Wenzel, formerly of Major area passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 in Kindersley, SK at the age of 87 years.

Beloved wife of the late Darrell Wenzel.

Everyone is welcome to a graveside service for Vivian on Sunday, August 20th from the Dorcas Cemetery, East of Compeer AB, on highway 12 / 51(SK), 500 m into the Saskatchewan side) at 2:00 p.m.  A luncheon of friendship & remembrance will follow at the Centenial Hall in Major SK.

Vivian always said, “You go when your time comes”; her time came on Feb. 20, 2017 at Heritage Manor in Kindersley, SK.

Born in Loverna SK. on Jan. 23, 1930, she grew up in the Court district with her parents, Milt and Joyce Hill along with her siblings Doreen, Earl and Doug.  Vivian attended school at Hilldale School, then went on to Outlook for high school.  She did some nurse’s aide training before she met and married Darrell Wenzel on July 7, 1951 in Compeer AB.  They lived in Whitehorse YT and Compeer before they settled in Major SK.   It was there that they opened Wenzel Motors, raised their six children and were very involved community members.

Vivian was a local and division school board trustee for many years.  She was also active in federal politics attending leadership conventions in 1976 and 1983.   She had fun at auction sales, antique shows and liked her collectables.  Vivian especially enjoyed her time at the lake (Aquadeo) even after Darrell died in 1990.  It was there that we had many enjoyable gatherings and laughs as a family.  Mom had a good sense of humour and enjoyed a fun practical joke; we will miss her.

She is survived by her children Clifford (Joanne), Trudy, Joy, Shelley (Gerald), Dan (Esther), Laura (Mike), her grandchildren Lee, Jolene, Gerry, Barry, Beverley, BJ, Amanda, Darrell and their families, her brothers, sisters-in-law, and their families.   Vivian’s final resting place will be alongside Darrell at Compeer’s Dorcas Cemetery.   The family will come together for a graveside service at a later date.  We thank everyone for their kind words and offers of condolences.
