Peter Matvichuk

In loving memory of Peter Matvichuk who died on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the age of 86 years of age.

Beloved husband of Joan Matvichuk.

There will be a Memorial Mass for Peter on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Church of the Assumption Catholic Church, Kerrobert, SK, with Rev. Fr. Dan Yazinski as celebrant.

Interment of ashes will take place in the Kerrobert Cemetery following the service.

Peter was born February 27, 1932 to Mike and Dina Matvichuk and was the younger of two children. He was raised on the family farm North of Kerrobert SK and attended Oakwood School. He was an active 4-H member. Peter at 17 years of age worked on the family farm after his dad had a heart attack, taking over the operation many years later after his parents passed away. On November 4, 1967 he married Joan Lamping and they began their lives together on the farm. Peter was a farmer first he saw the value in his work and the enjoyment of doing all the different tasks that farming brings. He remained active and involved in the operations of the farm all of his 86 years; where he passed away. He loved being out on the tractor, looking at crops, loved all animals, tending to cattle, mending fence and just plain farming. When he wasn’t farming he spent a good deal of time at many dances with Joan, taking in a few bus tours, many farm auctions, local hockey games and coffee row; and visiting with neighbors, friends and extended family. While traveling to these various events he enjoyed seeing as much country as he could; always trying to explore a variety of different routes. He was never in a hurry, always early as fondly remembered by Joan, and enjoyed life.

Peter was extremely kind, humble, helpful, grateful and always very appreciative. He was friendly and would always greet everyone with a smile. Peter will be missed by his wife of 50 years Joan Matvichuk, one sibling Anne Sutolenko, two nieces Nadia, Lena and their families, many in-laws of the Lamping family and by numerus nieces, nephews and his many neighbors, friends and extended family. Peter was predeceased by his parents Mike and Dina Matvichuk, brother in-law Paul Sutolenko and numerous members of the Lamping family.
