Pauline Husak was called to the Lord on February 19, 2017.

She was born on November 30, 1932 on the family farm in Hazel Dell, Saskatchewan.  She was the eldest child of Steve and Annie (Kochan) Sawka.  She attended school in Turnout, Sask.  On July 15, 1953 Pauline married Jack Husak.  They lived in Canora, Sask., Vegreville, Alberta, and their beloved Uranium City, Sask.  In 1983 they moved to Kindersley where they developed many strong friendships and enjoyed a wonderful life.  Jack passed away on July 24, 2011.

Pauline completed the Home Care services program of the Kelsey Institute of Applied Arts and Science and graduated with six others on June 15, 1985.  She spent years diligently and lovingly caring for many community members.  She became well-known and liked for her strong work ethic and her ready smile.

Pauline was known throughout the community and her friends and neighbors benefited from her prolific baking skills.  She continued to bake her own bread and buns until she became ill in 2016.  She loved working in her garden and was quick to share her harvest, her preserves and her baking.  Any new neighbor soon became her friend and protégé and then her extended family.  Her grandchildren raved about her cinnamon buns.  She danced, did yoga, loved to laugh and enjoyed a card game or two with friends and family.

She loved it when her family visited, especially after Jack passed, as she always had a long list of chores and projects for her children, followed by good food, good laughs and good fun.  She loved her family dearly and was proud of her children.

She is survived by five siblings:  Jackie (Clarence) Bartch, Bill (Sally) Sawka,  Mary (Alex) Radawitz, Rudy (Jeannie) Sawka and Friday (Pat) Sawka.  She has six children:  Ken (Judy) Sawka of Robert’s Creek, Garry (Wanda) Husak of Sherwood Park, Fern Cyr of Calgary, Lyle (Lorna) Husak of Victoria, Brian (Barb) Husak of Red Deer, and Launda Husak of Calgary. She is also mourned by eight grandchildren:  Kaeli Husak, Quinton Husak, Shyra (Kyle) Flom, Nicole Sawka Cote,  Samara (Robert) Marney, Danielle (Andrew) Fraser, Spencer Cyr and Kimberly Husak and three great grandchildren, Shavon Warcup, Jackson Marney and Lucas Marney.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Paul’s United Church in Kindersley on Friday, February 24 at 1 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kindersley Hospital would be appreciated.  She will be dearly missed by her friends, her family and the Kindersley Community.  God has a new angel in heaven.
