Gerald O. Hartsook

Gerald O. Hartsook of Eston, passed away with family by his side, on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the age of 93 years.

Beloved husband of Atha Hartsook, and father of Mary Del Mutch, Susan Melle, Joanne Kennedy, John Harsook, and Peggy Prichard

There will be a Funeral Service for Gerald on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Eston Full Gospel Church with Pastor Chris Toth officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eston Cemetery.

Gerald Hartsook was born on July 10, 1924 in Eston, Saskatchewan. Gerald was one of four children born to Louise and Waldo Hartsook. Gerald attended  Kirkray School near Madison, Saskatchewan. He became a farmer at a very young age. 

Gerald married Atha Shaw on September 30,1949. They were married 68 years. They had five children: Mary Del, Susan, Joanne, John and Peggy. There are 14 grandchildren (Brad deceased 2010).  Nine grand-daughters he adored and 4 grandsons he cherished, He loved seeing his beautiful granddaughters and would tell each of them that they were his favourite. He was with his grandson Sean everyday and thrilled to work alongside him on the farm. Gerald and Atha are blessed with 34 great-grandchildren. 

Over the years the Family has enjoyed being together. The cousins are all best friends and a highlight of the year is getting together at the Hartsook Happening this time of year. This year we're together to celebrate Gerald's life. 

Gerald spent a lifetime planting and harvesting many years on the farm. He worked with his brother Cecil and later John and Sean. 

He was involved in his community and served on the following boards: Eston Coop board, Eston Credit Union, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Eston Full Gospel Church, and Moose Lake Gospel Camp. 

A highlight every year would be for the family to attend family camp at Moose Lake along with other families. Mom and Dad started this tradition and through the years his family have been involved in the work of the camp. Because of this many have come to know the Lord and many have committed their lives to serving.  A good time at the beach, boating, fishing, waterskiing, is had by all. Then in the evenings a time of fellowship in the chapel worshipping and building our faith in the Lord. 

Gerald attended Eston Full Gospel Church In Eston for many years and was involved with many volunteer positions giving and serving with his time. He has been blessed to serve the Lord with his family and many friends. 

His hope in heaven was realized on January 6, 2018 as he peacefully passed from this life at Eston Jubilee Lodge. He will be laid to rest in Eston Cemetery.
